A message from the Director, COVID-19/Coronavirus
A message from the Director,
At the Medina County Veterans Service Office, the safety and well-being of our employees and the Veterans and clients we serve is always our priority, and we recognize the important role we play in providing a service to those that have served our Country.
We are actively monitoring the COVID-19/Coronavirus situation and taking steps to help keep our employees and those we serve within our community safe. We wanted to share with you some steps we are taking.
Aligning with public health authorities
We have a team dedicated to our response to this pandemic at the Medina County Health Department and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We are also closely monitoring updates from the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization regarding COVID-19. We will continue to seek guidance from these agencies, public health officials and government agencies on an ongoing basis.
Protecting our employees and clients
As our employees interact with clients and the general public, we have taken steps to limit exposure to the virus. We have not yet put any restrictions on travel to and from the VAMC’s. We have postponed all large-scale events that were planned for the next sixty days. We have ramped up our cleaning and sanitizing efforts of our public spaces and fleet of vehicles.
Assisting our employees
We are in continuous communication with our employees reminding them about the importance of good hygiene, providing them with health education and support whenever needed. Employees who feel ill have been told to not report to work and we have specific quarantine and communication procedures in place should an employee be diagnosed with COVID-19 or is asked to self-isolate by a public health authority, and to provide comprehensive benefits to support them.
Our commitment to you and our community is our priority.
What we ask of you
We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety and health of our employees and those we serve within our community, but we need your help. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms and have a scheduled appointment, please call and reschedule your appointment. We will make every effort to assist you remotely or over the phone. Additionally, the current situation is evolving and changing daily if not hourly in some cases. In some cases, the measures we have put into place one day may change the next. Please be patient as we get through this current state of affairs and hopefully be back to normal operations soon.
Thank you
Ed Zackery
